The Phuket King’s Cup Regatta is Asia’s largest sailing event. Approximately 100 boats and 1,000 sailors are expected to take part, enjoying five spectacular days of tropical racing and six nights of beachside parties.
The 27th Phuket King’s Cup Regatta launched in beautiful sunshine and in consistent winds as this classic race in the Andaman Sea kicked off with one of its largest ever fleet of keelboats; 105 entries competing over a newly expanded range of 15 individual classes. The scene is set for epically tight action across many class structures and a huge range of hull lengths and yachts in Phuket this year.
This Phuket King’s Cup Regatta is regarded Asia’s biggest and most popular regatta. Yet, more than being just a premier sailing regatta, this week-long event consists of excellent fun with local parties, local food and good shopping options.
With Royal Patronage, the Regatta is organised by the Phuket King’s Cup Regatta Organizing Committee under the auspices of the Royal Varuna Yacht Club, in conjunction with the Yacht Racing Association of Thailand, the Royal Thai Navy and the Province of Phuket.
Several races are taking place during this 7 days event divided into different classes of yachts; the Grand Prix class IRC0, class IRC1 and class IRC2, the Sunsail Charter division, the Firefly 850 Sports class, the Multihull Racing class, the Multihull Cruising class, the Modern Classic class and the Cruising class.
